Should I Consider a Holiday Camp for My Child?

Holiday camps are beneficial for kids for a number of reasons, but there can also be some considerations to think about before deciding if it’s the right place to drop your child off at. In this guide from a nanny service in London we take a look at the things to consider in holiday camps for children.

Does your child enjoy picking up different activities?

This is a big part of helping you figure out whether your child will enjoy a holiday camp or not. Does your child get excited about handling different activities and want to explore a number of hobbies? Then a holiday camp would be the best choice for your child to help explore a new environment and something for your child to get out of their comfort zone.

Is your child confident in different situations?

Children develop skills at different times, but your child should be exuding some level of confidence in their abilities. Even if they feel happy to pick up a different activity it’ll help with their self-esteem and how comfortable they’ll feel surrounded by other kids they don’t know.

Is your child capable of handling themselves on their own?

At different stages in a child’s life they will find themselves having to pick up things without you around. A child’s independence skills is going to really define how well they pick up new skills and what they’ll need to do to handle themselves. If your child can handle things on their own, without you around, then they’re going to be fine heading out to a holiday camp for the day.

Trust your child’s instinct and how they feel like they would handle themselves for the next few hours. If you think your child may struggle, then maybe now is not the best time. But something’s got to give – your child may well surprise you in how well they do once you give them that chance.
