As parents we only want to see our child do their best in their school years. A lot of exams and assignments define how they perform in the future, and if your child has big aims for higher education and beyond it’s even more crucial they’re provided the right support.
This private school in Oxford has put together a series of tips that you can use to help your child progress in school. These are easy ways to support your children without being overbearing or invasive.
Follow their lead
Your child will find out what they enjoy and what they struggle with really quickly. There shouldn’t be a need to force things onto your child; ideally you should be following their lead to find out what they’re comfortable with.
This gives you your own insight into how well your child is coping with schoolwork and what they may need extra support in without treading on their toes.

Invite them to join a club
Schools have many clubs or meet ups that are great for children to develop a love for a certain hobby or interest. For example, if your child performs well in their History and English classes then they may consider taking up debating.
School clubs give students the chance to feel involved in the culture, make new friendships along the way and increase their confidence. It also enhances a lot of skills taught in the classroom such as problem solving, collaboration and critical thinking skills.
Make learning into an activity
Your child isn’t going to enjoy every single subject they’re taught, so making those trickier ones into a game or interactive activity will give them more incentive to study harder. These can be made into kinesthetic games, or even a built rewarding system for when your child finishes a portion of study time.
