Start A New Business Venture

New businesses start every day. If you are one of these people who have always thought that you’d be great at running a business, life is too short to not give it a try. Yes, many start ups fail within the first 18 months, but there are others that go on and develop into amazing companies, standing the test of time. Let’s run through some things that you need to think about when you start a new business venture.

Choose Your Name & Branding

The first thing you need to do is decide on what your business is going to do, select a name and get your branding. People use businesses because of the services they offer. However they also buy into them due to the name of the company and the branding of the organisation. If a logo looks unprofessional, the customer will expect an unprofessional service. This is the first impression of your company and you only get one chance and making it. All of this needs to be on point and it’s worth investing time and effort in getting it right.

Register Your Business

You need to register your business with the relevant authorities. Companies in the UK need to be registered in order to be legally recognised as a business. At the very minimum, if you are doing this in a self employed fashion, you must let HMRC know so you can pay taxes and file returns. If your business was a food business you would need to get certification from the FSA. There might be certain paperwork you need to fill in depending on what your business. Be sure to do the research as this is much easier to get in place at the beginning, then try and figure out half way through your first year of trading.

Find A Place To Work From

Where will you do your work from? Obviously this depends on the type of business you are setting up. However, you will need somewhere to operate from. The office of a company can help set the tone for the business. A restaurant will require a premises. A virtual assistant business can probably be started from your spare room. If you are going all in and creating a workforce to conquer the world of business you will need an office. Consider modern touches like hot desks, office pods and break out zones. This is the space for work to flow and possibly customers to visit. Get this part of your business set up right.

Build A Team

We’ve mentioned the workforce already but it is so important we’ll mentioned it again. Hiring the right people is integral. Colleagues that will mesh well. Managers that are true leaders. Everyone from the bosses to the cleaners need to be recognised as an important cog in this business machine. Hire the right staff, treat them well and build them up and they will work hard for you and be loyal to your company.

Grow & Succeed

That is how you will grow. How you will succeed. Success is measured in many different ways but if you want to create a solid business which grows in terms of both services offered and the amount of work it takes on, you need to start from the ground and work up. Many of the companies you have heard of and see advertised everyday started from one person and an idea. You never know where your business idea could lead you.
