When was the last time you took a full lunch break? So many of us eat at our desks, carrying on with work. Some of us grab a bite to eat whilst on a call or simply work through, realising the work load we have doesn’t tally up with the hours in the working day. Taking your allocated time for lunch is important though. It breaks up the day, let’s you refocus, let’s you unwind. Let’s look at some of the best ways to relax on your lunch break.
Go For A Walk
A walk in the fresh air does wonders for your physical and mental health. Wellbeing is more than a buzz word and getting some steps in your day, air in your lungs and allowing your brain to be inspired by the world around you is brilliant. You don’t have to walk for miles, or hike up a mountain. A simple meander down by the city canal or along the path by the railway can be fantastic. Turn your lunch hour into a wonderful walk.
Be Creative
Many of us have jobs that don’t allow us to be creative. Jobs that simply pay the bills. Maybe we had ambition once-upon-a-time. Whatever you do for your employment, perhaps you fancy being a little more creative in your spare time. It could be that you love to write, or draw. Maybe you like to take photos or even creative music. Whatever your creative outlet, why not use your lunch hour to enjoy it? Creativity can be relaxing, as you are doing something you love. That’s five hours a week you could use to build your portfolio, pen an album or draw a comic book. That novel you’ve been working on could be closer to completion than you think!
Play Some Games
How do you fancy some relaxing downtime by playing online games? There are loads of great titles available, for free, that you can enjoy during your lunch hour. Whether you are into arcade hits, sports games or card classics, there is something for everyone. You can’t beat a game of Solitaire. It’s the simplest of computer games that many of us grew up playing.
One of my favourite games from the site, is a simulation game called Build And Protect. It is a little bit like Sim City, however it has a Lego twist. Create the ultimate city in this real-time strategy game. Just how prosperous can you make your city?
There are lots of games that you will find on the site, from retro classics you’ve played before to new games you haven’t yet met. Unwinding by playing some great games is a super way to use your lunchtime.
However you decide to spend the 60 minutes of your lunch break, make sure you switch off from work mode and really enjoy your hour. Life is for living and if we spend all that time working, we’re doing ourselves a disservice. Find a way to relax on your lunch hour and enjoy!
